This is a great opportunity to join our metering operations team here at Bristol Water as a Metering Operations Unit Operative.

 

What will you be doing?

In this role, you’ll be assisting with meter stop tap installations for the metering department to include repairs, maintenance, stop tap installations/replacements and meter installations for customer properties where excavation work is needed.

As a Metering Operations Unit Operative, you’ll be self-motivated and willing to work in varied conditions over a 45-hour working week, so a can-do attitude is key, especially on those rainy days. You’ll be out and about and operate all over the Bristol Water supply area.

 

Day to day you’ll…

  • Assist in the excavation work to locate supply, installation of stop taps, backfill and reinstatement and meter installations.
  • Support the lead Operative when carrying out work at a customer’s property, always demonstrating our values to provide the best customer experience possible and a quality finished job.  
  • You will work closely with the Unit lead, delivering high standards of workmanship in a timely efficient manner.
  • Assist the Unit lead to ensure all work is carried out to specification and defect free.
  • Be punctual and available for work at the agreed times, including out of hours and weekends when required.
  • Fully responsible for ensuring the correct usage of PPE.
  • Assist as required in the deployment of emergency drinking water supplies in a major incident effecting the company.
  • Responsible for all plant and equipment ensuring all defective equipment is highlighted to the Supervisor.
  • Make sure vehicle stock is maintained and vehicle and trailer are always kept in an acceptable condition.
  • Act as a champion in the highest level of Health & Safety standards, always working to procedures, quality standards and working instructions.

We really need people who are hardworking and can take ownership and have pride in their work. Our Unit Operatives are professional, yet flexible to get the job done.

You’ll need a safe and practical approach to work and be confident, self-motivated and capable of operating independently without regular oversight.  

Due to business and operational requirements, it’s worth noting you will need to reside within the Company’s area of supply. 

  • Full UK driving licence
