We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our busy Engineering team based in Bristol. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £57,000 per annum plus excellent benefits and development opportunities within our established Engineering Team.

About the role:

As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be supporting delivery of Bristol Water, South West Water and Bournemouth Water’s capital programme on behalf of our customers.

You will play an essential role, providing technical expertise on a portfolio of projects requiring electrical engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, from conception through to design, construction, commissioning and handover across clean water.

This is an exciting time to join Bristol Water, as we bring together the best of the best, as we continue our integration with South West Water and the wider group.

You will be supporting the Engineering Delivery teams on multiple projects and helping us to achieve our ambitious delivery plans. From working on schemes such as Pumping Stations (new & refurbishments) and Treatment Works upgrades to assisting to deliver additional water sources, our commitment to reach Net Zero by 2030, as well as delivery of our WINEP Programme expansion.

Day to day you’ll be…

  • Providing technical lead on projects requiring an electrical engineering input supporting our delivery project managers and commercial teams, as required.
  • Undertaking or arranging feasibility and design aligned with agreed project scopes and needs of the business. 
  • Supporting on the preparation of project documentation for costing, construction and commissioning including as built drawings, asset data, operational & maintenance manuals and health & safety files.
  • Reviewing designs produced by our supply chain partners ensuring electrical design output is aligned with project requirements and technical specifications.  Attending design review and project progress meetings, as required. 
  • Providing site supervision of works, ensuring that electrical works are undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with contract technical specifications.
  • Providing an interface between Engineering and Operational teams on technical requirements during commissioning and takeover work, thus ensuring smooth handover.
  • Providing input into the ongoing review and update of the company’s technical standards and specifications relating to electrical engineering works.
  • Providing technical support to the wider engineering team and business where electrical engineering input/expertise is required.    

What we’re looking for...

  • Experience of design and management of electrical engineering project works in an industrial environment.
  • Understanding of regulations and standards relating to electrical design and construction.
  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer with relevant professional institution, or working towards
  • Ideally a HV senior authorised person with proven competency as an Electrical Permit writer.
  • Ideally technical authority to support the Company in maintaining the Electrical Specification.
  • Ideally, knowledge of the water industry and experience in potable water Broad understanding of systems, plant and processes used in municipal water treatment.
